Workshops
Our range of workshops addresses the fundamentals of educational design in higher education as well as specific challenges and current topics in university teaching. Teaching portfolio workshops accompany and support you in the creation of your individual teaching portfolio.
Scheduled workshops for the current semester with registration options can be found here.
We are happy to conduct customized workshops upon request, should teachers, institutes or university committees have special needs or interests that are not covered by our regular offerings.
Teaching Certificate
The training programme on educational design at the University of Graz
The Teaching Certificate is a comprehensive continuing education programme that supports teachers in professionalizing their teaching activities and provides evidence of sound and research-based didactic training.
The free offering is aimed at all teachers at the University of Graz and is held once a year.
You can find all information about content and execution here.
High Noon - Didactics at Noon
The lecture series High Noon - Didactics at Noon offers inputs in online or hybrid format on the whole range of educational design in higher education and on all levels of action and design: from the learning situation in the laboratory/seminar room/lecture hall to the organizational framework conditions of tertiary education.
In a half-hour lecture, national and international experts in educational design research and practice will provide impulses on methods, didactic principles and models, relationship building, and much more. The second half hour offers the opportunity for exchange and discussion.
The event takes place every Wednesday from 12:00 to 13:00 and is free of charge.
Details on the current High Noon programme and registration options can be found here.
All past events are available for viewing on uniTUBE, the video platform of the University of Graz.

Support with teaching portfolios
The teaching portfolio presents teaching attitudes, teaching experiences and teaching competence . Writing about them enables structured reflection on one's own convictions and practices, which makes them an internationally widespread instrument for personal, university didactic development. Because they are increasingly used in appointment procedure, they have also become essential components in academic career planning.
The Competence Center for University Teaching offers targeted support in writing a teaching portfolio in the form of workshops, individual consultation and feedback.
You can find more information about the support with the teaching portfolio creation in this PDF.
Support with teaching projects
By testing, observing and reflecting on new methods, formats, assessment techniques, (digital) tools, etc., teachers can gain insights into educational design and expand their teaching competence in a one-semester teaching project. The Competence Center for University Teaching supports you in the conception and implementation of teaching projects as well as in making the results visible.
You can find more information about our support with teaching projects in this PDF.
As a senior lecturer, assistant professor, or professor, you also have the opportunity to apply once a year for the Peer Learning Teaching Project Award. This award is jointly presented by the University of Graz and the University of Leipzig. You can find all the details on the award website.
To take advantage of the support offer, we kindly ask you to contact us by e-mail.
Support with course feedback
To find out how students get along in the learning process, where the challenges are and how your course design is received, we recommend collecting student feedback during the semester.
On the intranet you will find detailed descriptions of some common feedback methods and templates for conducting them.
In the workshop "Feedback und LV-Evaluation" you can learn more about feedback methods and exchange ideas with other teachers.
The Competence Center for University Teaching also offers the implementation of Teaching Analysis Polls (TAP). Students are questioned in small groups about the course and the central feedback is discussed with the teacher.
If you are interested in conducting a Teaching Analysis Poll, please contact us by e-mail.
Support with Teaching Skills Assessments
The Teaching Skills Assessment (TSA) is used in selection and appointment procedures to gain an impression of the teaching skills and teaching activities of candidates. The concrete design is in the hands of the appointments committee. On the basis of various research-based criteria, the teaching quality of the candidate's teaching sample is assessed and presented (by the Competence Center for University Teaching, if desired).
Appointments committees receive all information on the TSA together with all other documents when they are constituted (via Sharepoint).
